After several years in sweet West Medford, I've taken a big leap to join the huge community of artists in Somerville. Vernon Street Studios is a large factory building near Magoun Square (just across Broadway from Medford). Rogers Foam Company owns the building, still manufacturers mysterious foam items on the lower floors, and ever-so-generously rents the rest of the buildings out to artists. I share Studio 53 on the "third" (which is also the sixth!) floor (don't try to figure that out; really, just don't.) with letterpress wizard Jenni Won. Everyone I've met so far has been lovely about imparting information and help. Oddly, I share a wall with Emily O'Brien of Dill Pickle Gear (great bike bags!), also from Medford and whom I know from meetings of the Mystic Makerspace.
My new studio is more spacious, so I can offer classes of greater size and complexity. Please tell me what you want to do, and I'll add it to my growing list of upcoming workshops. I'll be participating in Somerville Open Studios this year (the weekend of May 6-7), which is the mother of all regional art events. If you haven't been to SOS yet, it's an amazing experience! So make this your year to wade in, and start by visiting me at Vernon Street Studios. You can also visit my mini-website at VSS. See you soon! |
