For the first time, I'm offering a short mosaic sampler set, so you can try out three different types of mosaics. Learn a bunch of different skills, have fun creating something unique in each style, and go home with your lovely finished artwork. This class is perfect for people with no experience making mosaics, even if you’ve never made art before and think you “aren’t artistic.” You’ll be happily surprised at the art you can create by just playing with color and shape. For those who want it, wine will be available too. This makes a great Friends Night Out! Four 2-hour sessions.
AND IF YOU JUST CAN'T COMMIT TO ALL FOUR CLASSES, then you don't have to! Just come to the one you think you would like best, and I'll send you away with grout to finish it off. (But you're on your own for the mess you could make at home!) Schedule: Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30 pm. No more than four mosaic makers per class: very personalized attention! The studio is spacious, and you can choose to stand or sit. Cost: Four sessions, 8 hours total: $125 per person, plus $10- $20 for pendant setting & chain, and $20 for your own pair of glass nippers (optional). Individual sessions: $35 each. Location: Vernon Street Studios, 6 Vernon Street, Somerville (near Magoun Square), MA. My studio is on the third floor and requires climbing two flights of stairs. Free street parking. Class #1: Basic Pattern Trivet: Learn how to space out and design a professional-appearing pattern on any size substrate. Design and create a piece for a 6” trivet. We start with this one because you don't need anything except your eyes and the ability to count to 3 or 4. This is a tool-free class. Class #2: Tempered glass: Also called safety glass or crash glass, tempered glass is used in shower doors and car windows, among other things. When broken, it crumbles into small irregularly shaped pieces that are perfect for creating abstract mosaics. With nothing but tempered glass, bits of metal flake, and tissue paper, you can create an amazingly beautiful piece in little time. You don't have to cut glass for this, but you might want to, and if so you'll learn how. (It's easy-peasy, really. I promise!) Class #3: Mosaic pendant: Create a small piece of mosaic jewelry. If you don't know how, you’ll learn to cut tiles or glass with a mosaic artist’s most basic tool: glass nippers. This is an easy and safe process; you just need to follow a few simple rules. LAST SESSION, at a mutually convenient time (or schedule a different date): Grouting and Finishing: Learn about grout, which is used to unify and protect mosaics. Grout your pieces and take home your new beauties! TO SIGN UP or ask me a question: Email me OR Call me. I look forward to seeing you! Comments are closed.
